JUST SING! is a six-track album that celebrates and showcases the innate creativity of older adults who are affected by loneliness and social isolation. The unique beauty of this project is that the lyrics and melodies of these wonderful songs have been created by the senior songwriters (mostly 80s – 100 years old!) during group songwriting workshops facilitated by Martha Middlemiss in 2018 at Dunbar and North Berwick Day Centres, East Lothian, Scotland.

The songs were recorded by professional musicians in the studio and the voices of the senior songwriters were captured on location and woven into the record, bringing extra character and authenticity.

We believe that JUST SING! will become an uplifting, joyful reminder to those who hear it across our nation, and beyond, that being creative in community brings life and that musical creativity knows no age limit. The album will also be a tool for encouraging health care providers, educators, professional musicians and Third Sector organisations across Scotland to consider the fundamental value to our ageing nation of actively engaging seniors facing social isolation and loneliness in group songwriting as a key to unlocking conversation, creativity and community.
